This brand new article, written by PABC's own Sarah Lord Ferguson, highlights the challenges that today's private practice physiotherapists face in providing evidence-based care while balancing patient expectations and desires for new treatments that are not necessarily evidence-based. She states that:

In today's hypercompetitive pain management market, PTs may risk detrimental impacts to their reputation and livelihood if they do not give patients what they want, even if what they want does not align with clinical guidelines and research evidence. The aim of this professional practice paper is to shed light on these real-world challenges and encourage discussion among the PT community about strategies to increase uptake of EBP that involve multiple stakeholders such as PT training programs, professional organizations, researchers and clinic owners, which all have a role to play in supporting the translation of evidence into practice in our profession.
